Based on their near-identical features list, you can see why we chose to compare Maiden Home to Medley (also known as Medley Home). Now, before you get too excited about all their excellent scores, you should know that both of these companies are expensive, luxury brands. If you’re in the market for a couch that’s less than $2,500, you’ll have better luck elsewhere. But if you want top tier quality, gorgeous styles, and USA made craftsmanship all backed by world class warranties, then Maiden Home and Medley are incredible choices.

The biggest difference between these brands is their style. Maiden Home focuses on jaw-dropping modern, contemporary, and ultra-contemporary sofas. Medley offers more traditional, simple, modern and Mid-Century Modern styles. Both brands only have a handful of couches to choose from, which allows them to focus on quality and craftsmanship. But you might be disappointed by the lack of options.

Still can’t decide? Let’s break it down even further.

BRAND #1: Maiden Home

The image displays the logo for Maiden Home. It features the text "MAIDEN HOME" in gold capital letters, with a geometric, diamond-shaped design in the background. The design includes an abstract letter "M" integrated into the diamond shape.

Maiden Home was founded in 2017 by Nidhi Kapur when she became disillusioned by disposable furniture. She made it her goal to create heritage quality furniture with stunning style. And she succeeded. Maiden Home opened a New York City showroom in 2023 (and it's as gorgeous as the furniture).

Maiden Home | Brand Summary

Maiden Home is a luxury couch brand and they know it. Their drop-dead-gorgeous website provides an unparalleled browsing experience. They use high quality materials and they construct all their couches in the USA. Maiden Home gets nearly everything right. If their pricing were more transparent they’d have a place on the PotatoMeter Mt. Rushmore.

However, after a thorough perusal and ingesting a lot of other Maiden Home reviews, this is not a brand designed with kids and pets in mind, so if you’re looking for a family couch for a high-traffic, multi-purpose room then we’d suggest you search elsewhere. But if luxury is what you’re after, look no further.

Maiden Home | Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Stunning contemporary style
  • All couches made in the USA
  • Extremely high quality materials and craftsmanship
  • Female founded & independently owned
  • Lifetime warranty on sofa frames and spring suspensions
  • 30-day return policy (10% fee)

Cons

  • Limited sofa style options
  • Fabric selection can significantly raise sofa price
  • Fabrics and styles not ideal for children or pets
  • Warranty does not mention fabric or seams or stitches
  • Only one showroom (located in New York City)

Maiden Home does have a few cons. Their base prices are already very expensive, but choosing a higher end fabric can sometimes DOUBLE the price. That $3,000 sofa might end up being $6,000 just by choosing a different fabric option (and they don’t list fabric prices when you’re choosing). This fact – in addition to a limited sofa offering with styles that aren’t suited to families with kids and pets – likely closes Maiden Home off as an option for many customers. But for those who can afford it, Maiden Home is to die for.

As far as pros, Maiden Home has them in spades. First of all, Maiden Home builds all of their couches in North Carolina (the furniture capital of the US). The frames are made from sustainably sourced, kiln-dried hardwood, and the joinery methods are top-notch. They also use 8-way hand-tied spring systems in many of their couches, which is the cream of the crop. They back these frames with a lifetime warranty and even a 30-day return policy (with a 10% fee) if you don’t love your purchase. Being a female-founded, independently-owned company is a nice bonus.

BRAND #2: Medley

The image displays the word "medley" in lowercase letters, written in a simple, thin serif font on a plain white background.

Medley was founded in 2017 by two brothers, Travis and Ryan Nagle. But their story actually begins in 2005 when they were selling sofas out of their living room. They are one of the only couch companies offering ultra-green material options.

Medley | Brand Summary

Medley is a rare company that actually delivers on its promises of top-of-the-line craftsmanship, all-natural material options, and sustainability. They offer an excellent, hand-crafted product, but their prices can be a bit too high for the average consumer and their lead times can be excessive.

But if you want a made in the USA couch with wonderfully-natural materials, lifetime warranties, and a competitive price point, then Medley should be the first place you look. And chances are it will be the only place you have to look.

Medley | Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Latex + Wool eco-friendly options
  • All couches made in the USA
  • Extremely high quality materials and craftsmanship
  • Lifetime warranty on sofa frames and 5+ year warranty on materials
  • Generous 30 day return policy

Cons

  • Limited sofa style options
  • Fabric selection can significantly raise sofa price
  • Latex + Wool option can be pricey
  • Lead times can be extremely long
  • No brick-and-mortar stores

It can be hard to find any flaws in Medley’s business. But while their standard couches usually have lead times of 8-10 weeks (not counting delivery), their wonderful Latex + Wool options often take 14+ weeks to build. That’s a long time to wait, especially when there are no brick-and-mortar stores where you can test out their couches. Their base prices are great considering the high-quality materials and craftsmanship, but choosing a higher-tier fabric and their natural Latex + Wool materials will significantly raise the sofa price. But they’ll still be cheaper than Maiden Home’s offerings. Medley’s styles are nice, but they might be a little bland, depending on your tastes.

However, the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Their plant-based Latex + Wool material options are incredible and put Medley in a class of its own. Their wood is sourced from sustainable forests, their fabrics are eco-friendly, and every aspect of their construction process considers the sustainability impact. They also use a high-quality spring system similar to 8-way hand-tied suspensions. This is top-tier craftsmanship. Their frames also come with a lifetime warranty, the cushion filling has a 10-year warranty, and the upholstery workmanship has a 5-year warranty. Add in their 30-day return policy and there’s a whole lot to like about Medley.

And the winner is...

As we said earlier, the choice really comes down to style and price. If you love ultra-contemporary, luxury style sofas and price isn’t a concern, Maiden Home is an easy choice. If you’re more interested in sustainability and natural materials, Medley is an unbeatable option. Both companies have incredibly high quality, made in the USA sofas, so you really can’t go wrong with either brand.
