As you can see, Apt2B and Joybird are neck-and-neck when it comes to the most important categories we look for in a couch company. By these key metrics they’re both excellent options. The main differences come down to delivery and manufacturing origin.  Apt2B has a free Threshold Delivery option and builds many of its couches in the USA. Joybird only provides somewhat pricey White Glove Delivery and they manufacture their couches in Mexico. If that’s still not enough to move the needle in one direction for you, check out some of each company’s pros and cons below!

Brand Focus: Apt2B

Apt2B

Apt2B was founded in 2010 with the goal of providing customizable, USA made apartment size sofas at an affordable price. They've since expanded their offering to include sectionals, sofa beds, and more. Apt2B was recently acquired by The RoomPlace.

Pros Cons
Most couches made in the USA

Exceptionally fast lead times

Huge fabric selection

Tons of couch styles and sizes

High quality materials for the price

Fabrics are all the same price
Some couches imported from
overseas

Essentially only offer a 1 year
warranty

Returns can be costly

No brick-and-mortar locations

Pros & Cons: Apt2B

Apt2B has a bit of a split personality when it comes to their couch offerings. They have high quality, made in the USA sofas but they also sell cheaper, lower quality, imported couches. It can be hard to tell which is which when shopping on their website. Their imported couches do not have a warranty and their USA made couches essentially have a 1 year warranty despite language promoting a lifetime warranty. A lack of brick-and-mortar locations also makes it difficult to judge Apt2B’s quality and comfort in person.

However, they have an excellent range of USA made couch sizes and styles available in dozens of fabrics. They sell large 2-piece sectional sofas, sectional sleeper sofas, apartment size sofas, and big modular couches. If you want Mid-Century Modern couches or modern couches you’ll have plenty to choose from at Apt2B. Apt2B also has some of the fastest lead times for custom built, USA made sofas we’ve ever seen. The icing on the cake? Apt2B uses high quality materials, especially at their competitive, mid-tier price point. Plus, every upholstery fabric option is the same price so you can customize to your heart’s content.

Pros & Cons: Joybird

Joybird presents itself as a fun, trendy, and flashy brand. And for the most part, their couches deliver on that promise. But there are a few aspects that might detract from their appeal. Their couches are all made in Mexico, which also means that their lead times are not quite as good as a company like Apt2B’s. Pricey White Glove Delivery and potentially costly returns might make ordering online feel like a gamble. And while Joybird has a huge fabric selection for their custom couches, choosing certain fabrics can add hundreds of dollars to your order.

On the flip side, Joybird actually does have a good number of brick-and-mortar locations in major metropolitan areas, which allows you to test out their couches in person. This is rare for an online couch company, but it’s a major perk. Like Apt2B, Joybird has a large selection of stylish couches in a huge range of sizes and configurations. They offer loveseats all the way up through large modular sectional sofas. Joybird also has a great selection of affordable sofa beds and sleeper sectional sofas. They also back their high quality couch frames with a lifetime warranty as well as a 1 year warranty on their top tier upholstery craftsmanship. If you want it, Joybird has it.
