Why is Restoration Hardware So Expensive?

There are several factors that contribute to the higher price point of Restoration Hardware furniture.

    Quality Craftsmanship-

    • Artisanal craftsmanship: First and foremost, RH prides itself on artisanal craftsmanship, with many pieces being handcrafted by skilled artisans. This meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship elevates the quality of their furniture.
    • Premium materials: Furthermore, Restoration Hardware often uses premium materials, including solid wood, top-grain leather, and high-quality fabrics. These materials are not only luxurious but also durable, ensuring the longevity of their pieces.

    Unique Designs-

    • Exclusive designs: RH offers exclusive and unique furniture designs that are not widely available elsewhere. These designs are often the result of collaborations with renowned designers and architects.
    • Customization: Overall, Restoration Hardware provides customers with options for customization, allowing you to tailor certain aspects of your furniture to your preferences.

    Innovation and Sustainability-

    • Innovative features: Some RH pieces incorporate innovative features, such as built-in technology or hidden storage solutions, enhancing their functionality and value.
    • Sustainability initiatives: Restoration Hardware is committed to sustainable practices, including the use of responsibly sourced materials and eco-friendly manufacturing processes. These initiatives may lead to higher production costs.

    Premium Shopping Experience-

    • Luxurious showrooms: RH's spacious and well-appointed showrooms provide a luxurious shopping experience that reflects the brand's commitment to quality.
    • Design services: RH offers design services to assist customers in creating cohesive and stylish interiors, adding value to the overall shopping experience.

    High-Quality Finishings-

    • Attention to detail: RH pays meticulous attention to finishing details, such as hand-applied finishes and unique hardware, which enhance the overall aesthetics and value of their furniture.

    Limited Distribution-

    • Limited retail presence: Restoration Hardware maintains a limited number of physical retail locations compared to some other furniture retailers. This exclusivity can contribute to higher prices.

Where to Find Restoration Hardware Furniture

When shopping for Restoration Hardware furniture, you have several options:

    • Restoration Hardware stores: Visit a Restoration Hardware showroom to explore their extensive furniture collections and receive personalized assistance.
    • Restoration Hardware website: RH's website offers an online shopping experience where you can browse their catalog, customize pieces, and make purchases.
    • RH outlet: RH has outlet locations where you can find discounted furniture and decor items. These outlets offer an opportunity to purchase RH pieces at a more affordable price. It's still quite expensive mind you so we wouldn't advise getting too excited before checking it out... still, there are deals to be had and many of the items are returns and exchanges of some very picky people (read: wealthy) who barely even tried them out before sending them to the Outlet. This means they're usually quite similar to brand new items if they aren't brand new themselves.
    • Authorized retailers: Some authorized retailers may carry select Restoration Hardware products, although the availability may be limited. This is not very common so we wouldn't advise digging too deeply. However, there may be some great second-hand options not authorized or affiliated by Restoration Hardware that may provide a great entry point for those without a lot of RH-level cash on hand.

Is Restoration Hardware Furniture Worth Considering?

Whether Restoration Hardware furniture is worth considering depends on your preferences and priorities:

    • Luxury and quality: If you value luxury, quality craftsmanship, and unique designs, Restoration Hardware is a strong contender.
    • Customization: Restoration Hardware's customization options allow you to create furniture tailored to your specific needs and preferences.
    • Investment in longevity: RH furniture is often an investment in long-lasting, durable pieces that can withstand the test of time.
    • Budget considerations: Keep in mind that Restoration Hardware's premium quality and design come with a higher price tag. It's essential to align your budget with your expectations.

Restoration Hardware's commitment to luxury, quality, and design excellence sets it apart in the furniture market. Lastly, understanding why Restoration Hardware is more expensive can help you make an informed decision when selecting furniture for your home.
